The Gippsland Community Leadership Program was established to build leadership resources within the community. Now in its 11th year, the Program has introduced 275 leaders to the opportunities and challenges that face this region, and enhanced their leadership abilities to deal with them.

Gippsland has an abundance of natural resources, one of Australia's most pleasant living environments, close yet diverse communities, a highly trained and skilled workforce, and lots of opportunity. The essential element to capitalise on these advantages is enhanced leadership.

Using the community as a classroom, participants are given the chance to learn from the leadership experiences of a broad spectrum of leaders from a wide range of backgrounds across Gippsland. Site visits enable participants to see the outcomes and to identify the challenges which still exist.

The ultimate goal of the Gippsland Community Leadership Program is to build leadership resources within the region. A key to sharing such resources beyond the Program is SkillsBank Gippsland, which places graduates in short-term, voluntary advisory roles with not-for-profit community groups.
